Athena Manifested: Divinity’s Progressive Manifestation in Homer's Odyssey

Athena’s progressive manifestation in Homer’s Odyssey as a divine principle gradually manifested within and around Odysseus. Building on Joseph Campbell’s idea that “only birth can conquer death,” the lecture asks not only what is reborn in the poem, but who—or what—comes into being. This unfolding suggests that Odysseus’ return is not merely a homecoming, but the maturation of divine intelligence within the heroic soul.
