About
This course traces the evolution of the basic archetypes of the Goddesses of Life, Death and Regeneration outlined by Marija Gimbutas as they evolve from the Paleolithic Era to the Bronze and Iron Ages. Focus on the Creatrix and the Regeneration Goddesses in Western Europe and the Mediterranean reveals attributes in the Matricentric Cultures that allowed all forms of the Goddess to flourish as part of an expression of the Goddess in myth, history and culture. Using the archetypes of the Neolithic culture defined by Marija Gimbutas and the information translated from the ancient calendars of the Celts and the Greeks, a research group has identified the Goddesses of the Seasons of the year. Each season of the ancient calendars of Europe and the Mediterranean is carefully defined by its moons, solar holidays, and most importantly, a pattern of constellations that tells the story of the night sky which has been used to determine the myths of the Grandmother, the Mother and the Daughter throughout the year. The Grandmother or Bird and Snake Goddess is represented in the constellations and lunar cycles of the night sky of the summer. The Mother, depicted in the Eleusinian Mysteries of Demeter, is represented in the constellations and lunar cycles of the fall, and the Daughter known as Artemis or Brigit, is represented in the constellations and lunar cycles of the winter sky. Welcome this vital information by exploring the myths and the patterns of the night sky that were the base of ancient civilizations. Thursdays, March 19th to April 9th, 2026.
