Event 1: Fall Festivals to Demeter as The Horse Goddess.

In the myths of the Horse Goddesses such as Demeter Erinys, Macha and Rhiannon, the Indo-European patriarchy challenged the speed and strength of the Goddess while attempting to capture her independence, sensuality and prowess in a race to overpower her. By reining in her equine power, the God or King acted as her consort and fathered the Asvins or Twins that she birthed. Conversely, the tributes to the Horse Goddess in the Neolithic and Bronze Ages focus on the strength and endurance of the Horse Goddess without the presence of the patriarchy.  On the…
