Many creation stories from across the world begin with an ocean goddess birthing the cosmos into existence. The ancient Sumerian Nammu & Babylonian Tiamat are two such goddesses. Considered in light of modern ecology and art, these goddesses inspire us to reimagine our relationship with the ocean.

Nammu and Tiamat: Looking for the Ocean Mother
In some of the world's foundational written stories, the world begins with a great ocean goddess who births the other gods and the elements. How can myths of the ocean mother speak to us today? How might we view our relationship with the ocean as alive and create new myths for our personal and planetary future?
