In the myths of the Horse Goddesses such as Demeter Erinys, Macha and Rhiannon, the Indo-European patriarchy challenged the speed and strength of the Goddess while attempting to capture her independence, sensuality and prowess in a race to overpower her. By reining in her equine power, the God or King acted as her consort and fathered the Asvins or Twins that she birthed.
