Unearthing the Wild Feminine: Nature Goddesses and the Maenadic Dance

Wild feminine goddesses embody the transformative power of initiation to the darker human emotions of ferocity, untamed power and savage nature that enables fierce independence and creative expression. Encountering nature goddesses such as Rhea as earth goddess, Thetis as sea goddess and Artemis, the goddess of wilderness, is a rite of passage for female embodiment. Maenads, as minor nature goddesses, are a bridge from modern day domestic life to evolving aspects of inner wildness. Within the maenad mythologem, nature, the wild feminine, primal violence, and the principle of generative life merge into their mountain top dances.
