Welcome to the Mythological Times blog, brought to you by me, Laurel Bergsten with oversight by founding ISM members Dr. Heather A. Taylor and Lydia Griffiths. We hope to use this blog as another means of expressing myth related ideas and delights. We will be excited to welcome new ideas in the near future from ISM members.
I am a current PhD candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute in the Mythology and Depth Psychology program. My dissertative work will focus on the expansive archetype of Aphrodite and her harmonizing effects. I am a writer and artist utilizing varied avenues of creative expression with many projects always in progress. I am dedicated to exploring and honoring the intersections of philosophy, mythology, and science, from a prespective of mutual adoration with the universe. Previous writing and editing projects include the 2023 volume of the Mythological Studies Journal, an internship at Wolverine Farm Publishing House, and handful of workshops. In addition to my dissertation I flit between writing a novel length adaptation of The Twelve Dancing Princesses, and a contemporary dogsitting romance.
No myth related ideas are off the table for our blog. We will be excited to welcome poetry, flash fiction, creative non fiction, and art and video submissions in addition to more scholarly peices. All submissions should be research informed, under 1000 words in length, polished and ready for publication. Submissions over 1000 words in length will be returned unread, and asked to shorten. Submissions that are not ready for publication will be returned with guiding feedback.

If your blog subject matter deals with current events that may have an expiration date such as holidays, pop culture trends, etc., please make this clear in the abstract.

Comedians, musicians, and tribute acts are arriving in Winnipeg all through this summer season, making the local nightlife look incredibly exciting.
